Pre-Workout Smoothie

Lately I have been so into smoothies in the mornings to get my day going! And honestly, there’s nothing better than just throwing a couple things in a blender and calling it a day! I also love to pack a bunch of different things into these smoothies so that I can be eating a ton of healthy foods without even realizing it because it’s in a delicious smoothie form!

This smoothie is normally used for my pre-workout meal because it gives me some energy and is very light to workout on. I have always been someone who has to workout fasted if I’m working out in the morning because having anything on my stomach makes me feel sick when I workout. However, I have found that this smoothie does not do that for me and is a great way to get some nutrients in before I workout or get my day started! BUT this smoothie does not have to just be a pre-workout snack! It is great as a breakfast or even a snack throughout the day!

All of the ingredients in this smoothie are super clean and super healthy!

Spinach: This is a great thing to put into a smoothie because you can barely even taste it when it’s blended up and it is an easy way to get some greens in!

Avocado: This is an amazing healthy fat which will keep you fuller for longer, and it makes the smoothie creamy! I buy the mini avocados and use either a whole avocado or half but if you have a regular size avocado I recommend either 1/4 or 1/2 of it! It’s also really good to freeze them before you put it in your smoothie because it makes it even creamier!

Banana: Bananas are a staple for me with smoothies! They also make the smoothie creamier, especially if they’re frozen!

Dates: I have just recently started using dates in my smoothies but I honestly really like it. It adds some sweetness as well as all the nutritional benefits they have!

Apple Cider Vinegar: I know this may seem crazy but a smoothie is an amazing way to sneak ACV into your diet! ACV cannot be taken undiluted and mixing it with water isn’t the most appetizing drink so I suggest to sneak it into your smoothie! There is a long list of benefits to implementing ACV into your diet and this is my favorite way to do it!

Chia Seeds: I love using chia seeds! They are full of fiber which is very helpful to someone like me who has bad digestive issues! They don’t have any taste but they just add a nice little pop to the smoothie!

Almond Butter: This is another healthy fat and it also has some protein in it which will help to keep you full as well!

Cucumber: For me, cucumber just added a nice, refreshing touch to the smoothie while still adding some more veggies!

Frozen mixed fruit: Typically I stick to just frozen mango for my smoothie but I also like using a mix of different fruits to add some more flavor! This part is totally customizable with whatever you prefer!

Okay so now I’ve given you the run down on why I include all of these ingredients to the smoothie but now lets get to the good stuff!! The actual recipe!!!

Ingredients:

  • 1 banana (regular or frozen works)
  • 1 cup spinach
  • 2 pitted dates
  • 1/2 mini avocado (1/4 or 1/2 of a regular sized avocado)
  • 2 tsp. Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 2 tbs. chia seeds
  • 1 tbs. almond butter
  • 1 cup frozen mixed fruit
  • 1/2 peeled cucumber
  • Dash of cinnamon
  • 2 cups water
  • Optional: 1 serving of Sarah’s Day Body Bloom

Directions:

  1. Put all of the ingredients in the blender and blend until smooth!
  2. Pour into your cutest glass and enjoy!

*Note: This smoothie makes about 1.5-2 servings.
