Charleston

Earlier this week, my family and I went on a quick little getaway to Charleston before my brother and I had to head back to school. I haven’t been since I was a freshman in high school so I was super excited when I found out we were going! While we were there we went to some pretty cool places and ate some pretty amazing food so I thought I would share!

Walking around the Battery

This was one of my favorite parts of this quick trip. As soon as we got to Charleston, we parked at the Battery and started walking around and exploring the town. We walked to the infamous Rainbow Row and, luckily, I got to take lots of pictures πŸ™‚ I loved getting to see all the different houses and some even still had Christmas lights up which were absolutely beautiful.

O-Bar at Oyster House

The next day, we decided to head to the Market Street area for lunch. We walked around for a while and stumbled upon this cute place called the Oyster House and were actually seated in the O-Bar. My mom and I are huge fans of oysters so we couldn’t resist when the waitress told us they got some in fresh that morning.

Let me tell you…these are the best oysters I have EVER had! Highly, HIGHLY recommend these!!! And for lunch I got the tuna poke stack (with a few modifications to make sure it was gluten free) and a side of fries (fries are my weakness ugh). It was very good and super fresh seafood!

Shopping around King Street

I love to shop and the different boutiques and stores around King Street did not disappoint! We found tons of cute little shops to look around in and not to mention the gigantic Forever 21! This Forever 21 was actually super neat and easy to shop through which made shopping there so much more enjoyable. Also this area is a perfect place to take some good Insta-worthy pics!

Carmella’s Cafe and Dessert Bar

Out of the whole trip, this was my absolute favorite part. Carmella’s is a really cool, trendy dessert bar that was also a regular bar so it seemed like a cool place to go later at night as well. We stopped by this bar in the middle of the day when we needed a little shopping break! The whole atmosphere was super chill and the desserts were amazing! They even had gluten free options for me πŸ™‚ I got an almond raspberry tart and it tasted exactly like a fancy poptart…it was to die for.

I also had to grab a coffee with almond milk because I have a little bit of an obsession with it and knew it would go perfect with the dessert!

Tavern & Table

As a girl obsessed with finding amazing gluten free foods, this trip was obviously filled with many different restaurants and delicious foods! This restaurant, Tavern & Table, was super cute on the inside and had a beautiful seating area out back that would be perfect during the summer time! My mom and I were tempted by the oysters again so we decided to get a few. While these weren’t as good as the ones from the Oyster House, they were still amazing and fresh!

For dinner, I got the shrimp and grits. I love shrimp and grits and this one did not disappoint. Definitely recommend this spot and this dish!

Toast

As our last stop before we headed home, my mom and I ate breakfast at this cute little place called Toast. They had a few different gluten free options but I went with the corned beef hash which came with two poached eggs and grits. Though it may be an odd choice, this was so amazing and I would definitely order it again!

And of course it wouldn’t be breakfast without the coffee with almond milk. πŸ™‚

I am literally so obsessed with Charleston and I hope you visit these cute little spots and enjoy them as much as I do!
